1. Walking too slow or fast
Your walking style can impress and grab the attention of those around you. Make sure that when you are in public, walking with a group, sync your walking speed with the rest members, to avoid getting like an odd one out. People will notice you and assume you less intelligent than the others even if you are not.
2. Avoiding eye contact
While talking to someone or addressing a group, if you fail to maintain the eye contact with your audience, it will have a negative effect. They will ignore your words and assume you less confident but if you make a strong eye contact, they are impressed, your words influence and make you look much smarter and intelligent.
3. Speaking in monotone
Speaking in monotone is boring and doesn’t express the emotions as desired. Adjusting the pitch and tone of your voice is highly effective and it has a great influence over the listener. People with such skills appear more appealing, confident and are called natural speakers but reality is that they fake it until they really make it. You can do it too and people will assume you more competent among your counter parts.
Affectation is good but overdoing the things just kill the value of your content. Whether you are supposed to speak or write, using too much of fancy words to impress the listener or reader often go wrong. The best of the writers and speakers try to maintain simplicity while they are on the job. Simplicity is awesome.
5. Being afraid to talk
Initiating the talk is not as easy as it appears and the one with such skills appear more competent and confident. Whether initiating the talk with your teacher, boss or anyone you want to, the more afraid you look, the more chance of you being ignored will rise. Just start the talk and continue with confidence. Nobody is going to sue you for being too awesome.
